Spinal Decompression For The Neck

Hi, my name is Dr. Jacob Hendendrickson,
the chiropractor at Crystal Grove
Chiropractic. And today I wanted to show
you and explain to you uh spinal
decompression therapy for the cervical
spine or for your neck. Spinal
decompression therapy is a gentle
traction and stretch of the spine. And
right now we have Karina set up in the
neck traction unit. We have her placed
in here so her neck is nice and
comfortable. She has a strap here that’s
nice and comfortable. Um, everything is
nice and gentle. Uh, her feet are
propped up, so she’s comfortable as well
and at a very good angle. And the
machine is lightly pulling here,
stretching her neck, and it’s holding it
in that position, that nice light
decompression and stretch. Now, each one
of our tables, uh, we have these stop
buttons that the patient will hold on to
during the course of the therapy just in
case they want to shut the machine off
if they don’t like it, they feel
uncomfortable. Most people really love
it and enjoy it and don’t use the stop
button. But in case there’s an emergency
or you just don’t like it, you can turn
the machine off. And then at any point
you also always have a doorbell that you
can hit and it signals us to come in
here if you need anything or you hit
this doorbell when the machine shuts off
and we come in and let you out cuz we
know your therapy is done. And often
times we’ll come in and check on you
anyway. Now, cervical spine or neck
decompression therapy is great for
anyone that’s just having general neck
pain because their neck is compressed
due to bad posture or just maybe some
other reason. uh anyone that has chronic
headaches and migraines, it’s very very
great for that. Very fantastic for that
because there’s so much compression of
your neck and at the base of your skull.
And then also anyone that’s having nerve
symptoms coming from their neck down
their arms. Maybe you suffer from carpal
tunnel which can sometimes be
misdiagnosed uh cuz it’s a nerve symptom
coming from your neck. Um or if you’re
having any weakness in your hands or
arms,
neck decompression therapy may be right
for you. So, if anyone you know or
yourself is suffering from neck pain,
headaches, migraines, nerve symptoms
down your arms, spinal decompression
