Causes and Effects of Lower Back Pain

Hi, my name is Dr. Jacob Hendendrickson,
the owner and chiropractor at Crystal
Grove Chiropractic in Loots, Florida.
And one of the primary things that I see
and treat in my office is lower back
pain. Now, lower back pain is the result
often times of compression of the spine
because gravity’s pulling us down all
the time. And then when we’re sitting
and we’re slumped or maybe we’re driving
or maybe we have a job where we have to
bend over and pick heavy stuff up all
the time,
the spine gets pushed forward like so.
And gravity pulls us down and compresses
our spine like that, putting a lot of
tension and pressure through the joints,
through the discs, on the nerves, on
your muscles, on your vascular supply
such as like your veins and arteries,
those sorts of things. And what ends up
happening is inflammation builds and
those muscles tense up to protect
everything, but it doesn’t feel very
good. And in some cases, people can get
like a disc herniation or a bulge that
can cause extra pain.
But one thing that you can do to help
mitigate this is simply trying to sit up
straighter and maybe even using some
lumbar lower back um reinforcement like
a pillow or something when you’re
sitting.
You can also do some basic exercises
like cobras where you lay on the floor
and arch yourself up like that which
will just help move the tissue and get
you some extension through your lower
back. But at Crystal Grove Chiropractic,
how we generally go about treating lower
back pain is we have spinal
decompression tables which really
stretch and rehydrate the tissues of the
lower back or pretty much any joints in
the spine. really stretch and decompress
the pressure that’s been built up. And
then we also use spinal adjustments to
help move the vertebrae and get things
functioning better. And this also aids
in more decompression of the spine.
That’s what those pops are, is pressure
